Basir Feda works as a Project Officer for the project Forms of Informal Governance in North and North-East Afghanistan. Prior to joining the Berghof Foundation, Basir has worked with the political as well as development cooperation sections of the German Embassy in Kabul. He has also worked with the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA). During his time in UNAMA, Basir has served as a Principle Liaison Officer to Dr. Ashraf Ghani, former chair of the Transition Coordination Commission, NATO’s main Afghan partner for transfer of security responsibilities from International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) to Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF). His research is focused on questions of governance in areas of limited statehood, including international interventions and state-building approaches in conflict and post-conflict settings. Basir holds a BA in Economics from Goa University and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin with a special focus on – among others –applied quantitative methods of data analysis.
