Executive Director Remains Member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on “Terrorism”

The President of the World Economic Forum, Professor Klaus Schwab, has invited our Executive Director, Hans J. Giessmann, to again become deputy chair of the Global Agenda Council (GAC) on “Terrorism” for the period from 1 July 2012 to 30 June 2014. It is his 4th consecutive term and his second as deputy chair after being the chair of this high profile expert panel last year. The GAC network advises the World Economic Forum on thematic issues and also provides input to international bodies such as the G-20. Last year the GAC’s work focused on the impact of technology on terrorism and of terrorism on international law. Other issues that were discussed relate to the fallacies of counter-terrorism and to opportunities for de-radicalisation and counter-recruitment. The GAC comprises 12 distinguished researchers, practitioners and politicians from across the world.
