Publications

We are currently developing an integrated database to present all our publications in a comprehensive and informative format. For the time being, links to publications by the three formerly independent organisations and to reports produced by Berghof Foundation-supported projects are listed below:

The Berghof Handbook and the Handbook Dialogue Series

Our flagship publication is the Berghof Handbook for Conflict Transformation. Continuously updated, this world-renowned resource offers an online platform for both academics and practitioners to discuss new ideas and exchange experiences in the field of conflict transformation. The website content comes in the form of commissioned articles by leading experts and a Dialogue Series on key issues. A first print edition was published in 2004, a second one has just come out in 2011. Berghof Handbook Dialogues are also available in print. The Berghof Handbook is published in English. Selected articles also have been translated into seven languages.

Peace Education Resources and Database

Addressing a wide range of issues related to inter-personal, social and international conflict, Peace Education (formerly known as the Institute for Peace Education) has produced over 100 publications — a variety of newsletters, articles, books and posters, developed more than 100,000 copies of educational CD-ROMs and made several films. Among many other projects, they host the Peace Counts School and the Peace Counts on Tour projects. Most publications can be downloaded for free, but you can also order educational material and access the organisation’s library catalogue online (most resources in German).

Conflict Research Publications

Conflict Research publishes several series in print and online, both independently and in collaboration with Peace Support. Several staff members also contribute to relevant book publications, journals and online discussion forums. At the same time, Conflict Research’s publications series offer a platform for publishing selected key contributions to the fields we work on, written by representatives of conflict transformation theory and practice based in Germany and abroad.
