Hannes Siebert is responsible for the collaborative Berghof/UNDP Lebanon National Dialogue Support Project. In the past, Hannes has worked as a mediator and facilitator in the development and implementation of national peace structures, negotiation processes, and local/regional conflict interventions in several countries. In his home country, South Africa, he served as the director of the National Peace Secretariat (the multi-party body mandated to implement the 1992 National Peace Accord). Later, he assisted the Special Presidential Task Force in key intractable conflicts, focusing on the demilitarisation of militias. Other important assignments related to peace processes took him to Sri Lanka and Nepal. In the Lebanon project, he provides technical support and expert advice for dialogue and consensus-building.
