Conference: Germany as a mediator
The conference "Germany as a mediator - peace mediation and mediation support in German foreign policy" was held on Tuesday, 25 November 2014 at the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It was organized by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with the "Initiative Mediation Support in Germany," consisting of Berghof Foundation, Center for Integrative Mediation - CCSP, inmedio Institute for Mediation, and Center for International Peace Operations (ZIF). Main topics discussed were the experiences and resources Germany contributes to mediation efforts around the world and how Germany´s role in the field of mediation could be further enhanced – concerning both, mediation activities by state (track 1) and by civil society actors and institutions (track2).
The Berghof Foundation was involved in the planning and the implementation of the conference and contributed to the panels as well as to the facilitation of the working groups. The conference was attended by about 150 German and international participants from civil society, government ministries, international organizations and think tanks - including internationally experienced mediators.
