Seminar on Women’s Role in Peace Processes with Female Members of the Afghan High Peace Council

The four-day capacity-development seminar brought the nine female members of the High Peace Council (HPC) of Afghanistan together with women from other countries who each have played an influential role in their respective peace processes. The seminar encouraged a dialogue between representatives from Afghanistan, Yemen and Aceh/Indonesia to share expertise and practical advice, in order to best build the capacity of the HPC members and strengthen their work and position within the HPC. Such an information exchange provided the participants with unique and personal exposure to other peace processes and the unique roles women have played, which in turn helped develop a deeper understanding of conflict transformation and peacebuilding tools that can be applied to the situation in Afghanistan.
