As a member of the DEKT Steering Committee, Programme Director Martina Fischer took an active role in this year's German Protestant Kirchentag (DEKT). She conceptualized and moderated an international panel on “Guilt and Reconciliation in Social Conflicts”, attracting 800 participants. Among the panelists were longstanding cooperation partners of the Berghof Foundation. Professor Brandon Hamber (INCORE, Ulster University), Fra Ivo Markovic (Sarajevo), Professor Andreas Hasenclever (University of Tübingen), Bishop Anba Damian, and Emine Erol (Berlin) discussed the role of Religion in violent conflicts.
Martina Fischer also moderated a discussion on “Defending Human Rights on the global level” with Salil Shetty (Secretary General, Amnesty International) and Alice Nkom, a Human Rights activist and lawyer from Cameroon. Some 2,000 guests attended this event in the Porsche-Arena.
