Ali has many years of experience in the public domain and nonprofit industry in Lebanon and the USA.

With a B.S. in Computer Engineering Technology and a Masters in Conflict Resolution and Peace-building, Ali’s career path took him from being a Support Engineer with FutureSoft to becoming a technical trainer with British Petroleum in Houston, Texas.  Moving to California for his post-grad work, he worked as a Conflict Resolution Specialist with the Los Angeles School District, then as a Community Mobilizer with local chapters of the AFLCIO (the U.S. trade unions), then participated in promoting good governance through transparent and fair elections in Lebanon with The Carter Center.  Since returning to Lebanon a few years ago, he worked in the interfaith and community development fields.  Most recently, he worked for the international NGO Mercy Corps as Program Coordinator in the regional No Lost Generation program to respond to the Syria crisis inside Syria and across the 4 refugee hosting countries (Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, and Iraq). He then consulted in setting up training workshops for the UNICEF Innovation Labs for technical and entrepreneurial skills development. At Berghof, he has been manager of the project “Developing Safety Nets against Polarization of Sunni-Shia Relations”.
