Programme Manager, Africa
Leonie works in the Africa Team where she manages mediation and dialogue initiatives in support of internal conflict resolution and peaceful political transformation in Sudan and Ethiopia.
She has over 7 years of experience in political affairs, human rights and international programme management, with a special focus on conflict resolution and democratic governance in post-conflict and transition contexts. In her previous role with Democracy Reporting International in Berlin, Leonie coordinated democratic reform, election and rule of law projects in Tunisia. From 2013-2016, she served as a technical advisor on human rights and civil society issues to the European Union Delegation in Sudan. Prior to that, she worked with GIZ in Rwanda and interned at UN Women in Vietnam in the area of gender mainstreaming.
Leonie holds master degrees in political science from the Free University Berlin and in international public management from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris. She is fluent in English, French and German and has some knowledge of Spanish and Arabic.
