Conflict Transformation Research
Sara Abbas is a project manager for our programme on Conflict Transformation Research. Her work centres on the project Towards sustainable peace: The nexus of peacemaking and constitution making.
Prior to joining the Berghof Foundation’s staff, Sara worked and consulted for a variety of organizations in the United States, Tunisia, Sudan, South Africa and the United Kingdom, including the Carter Center, UNDP, UN Women, Columbia University, the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) and the Social Science Research Council (SSRC). Her experience lies in the area of governance, in particular elections, constitution making, human rights promotion, women’s political empowerment and local governance.
Sara holds an M.Phil. in Development Studies from the University of Cambridge, and a B.Sc. (Hons.) in International Relations from the University of Sussex. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in Political Science at the Freie Universität Berlin.
