03/10/2014

On March 8, 2014 the well-known Göttinger Peace Prize was awarded to our team in Tübingen, honouring their long-term efforts to promote peace education. This prize gives great encouragement for developing new approaches, especially within our programme Peace Education & Global Learning.

In his acceptance speech Uli Jäger referred to current projects like “Fostering a civic and nonviolent education in Jordan” and the internet portal for children “Frieden Fragen.de” . He also stressed the necessity to integrate peace education strategies into all development cooperation efforts.

The Göttinger Peace Prize, endowed by the Foundation Dr. Roland Röhl, is granted to groups or persons that have rendered outstanding scientific and practical services to peace. Among the renowned laureates of previous years is Prof. Dieter Senghaas, honorary chairman of the Berghof Foundation’s board of trustees.
