In cooperation with the Libyan Institute for Advanced Studies (LIAS) the Berghof Foundation carried out a focus group discussion on critical issues related to the ongoing Libyan National Dialogue.
The aim of the meeting with 12 participants from Libya was to inform and support the development of a National Dialogue Handbook. The group covered a range of social, tribal and political perspectives and the debates were highly inspiring and constructive. A range of controversial issues were discussed, such as the legitimacy of the current National Dialogue, the ownership of the process, levels of inclusivity, mechanisms for decision-making, how decisions should be implemented, the principles of the National Dialogue, mandate and support mechanisms.
The Berghof Foundation is conducting further case studies in Mali, Sudan and Tunisia.
