“We want to make a joint stand against violence at Jordanian universities” – this was the key result of four workshops at universities held in the last week of March 2014. The workshops were organised by the Berghof Foundation and its local team of renowned education experts. They provided spaces for reflecting and testing approaches of civic and nonviolent education. The one-day workshops were held at the University of Jordan, the University of Petra, the Al Balqa’ Applied University and the American University of Madaba. Around 140 students of different faculties and interested lecturers took part. They discussed the reasons for violence and options for violence prevention. The participants worked with great enthusiasm on the locally adapted modules of storytelling, theatre and sport. In addition a workshop with young activists from the NGO KAFA was held at the Theodor Schneller School.
