Memory and History for Social Conciliation in Bosnia

Adapting our approach of dialogue based on History and Memory applied in the Caucasus (Georgia, South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Azerbaijan, Karabakh), the Berghof Foundation has started working in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Also in our new project we apply listening and discussing biographical interview episodes on conflict, recent war(s), violence and forced migration. With these individual stories we aim to overcome the silence and create a constructive space for reflection and dialogue between the different constituencies.

All three major communities (Bosniak, Bosnian Croat and Bosnian Serbian) in the northwestern region of Bosnia and Herzegovina are engaged in the project.

To this end, we have already started working with the local team to prepare for biographical interviews and discussion workshops. In order to draw on best practices from our previous work and promote cross-regional exchange, colleagues from the Caucasus are involved in supporting the local partners in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This project is conducted in cooperation with the Center for Peacebuilding in Sanski Most (CIM).
