Conflict Transformation Research
Kristóf Gosztonyi is Project Manager of the Rural Policing in Southern Mexico project financed by the Poverty, Violence and Governance Lab (PovGov) at the Freeman Spogli Institute of International Studies, Stanford University. He re-joined the Berghof research team in 2019. Previously, he also worked for the Berghof Foundation managing the Corruption and Patronage project in North-East Afghanistan.
He conducts regular policy advice and consulting to development organisations and international agencies (e.g. GIZ, KfW, ICRC, AKF) in the field of sub-national governance and local level security governance. Kristóf has extensive experience in training local investigators and carrying out research in conflict and violence affected contexts (e.g. Afghanistan, Pakistan, Peru, Mexico).
Kristóf holds an MA and a PhD in Social Anthropology from the Free University Berlin and has published numerous papers in the fields of conflict research and sub-national governance.
