Based in Thailand part-time, he is also connected with the Prince of Songkla University in Thailand. His core responsibilities are the implementation of a range of activities related to peace support, especially in the area of dialogue and mediation. Norbert was a founding shareholder of Berghof Peace Support and also established the Berghof Research Center for Constructive Conflict Management (later Berghof Conflict Research), which he directed until 2004. Between 2001 and 2008, he headed the Resource Network for Conflict Studies and Transformation (RNCST) in Sri Lanka. Previously, Norbert had worked for the Institute for Development and Peace (INEF, University of Duisburg), the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House, London), and the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF). He also served as the academy director for the Gustav Stresemann Institute. Norbert graduated in Sociology and holds a PhD from the Johann Wolfgang von Goethe University in Frankfurt/Main, Germany.
